From the judges:

A pale pink coloured soft terrine with attractive pieces of dill evenly distributed throughout. Delicate sweet fish notes on the nose, which are followed through into the flavour. The fish is complemented by the well balanced levels of dill and with the gentle smoke coming through at the end. The judges enjoyed tasting this product.

An attractive smooth glossy pate which has a simple clean delicate flavour of the cured smoked trout. The dill is at the right level together with the smoke from apple and hickory. Simply delicious and extremely well executed.

An attractive pate with some very pretty flecks of dill, entwining the clean tasting trout. You can tell it’s fresh and well prepared. The smoke has been judged well and doesn’t overpower the fish or indeed the herbaceous notes from the dill. The dill is indeed lemony fresh with its integral gentle aniseed and is harmonious in its execution within the pate. Wonderful.

    Came across Butler Country Estates at Elvetham Heath market. Never had smoked trout pate before, and Richard recommended going for the pate with dill. Must say it is wonderful. A hint of lemon, the dill’s freshness and the trout’s wonderful smokey flavour. A small amount goes a long way. Will definitely be back for more.

    I love both the trout pate with dill and the one with chilli. They go down very well with some tasty sourdough toast and a nice chilled glass of white!

We offer free delivery of our smoked trout in the Winchester, Southampton and Portsmouth areas.

On Thursdays, we deliver for free to the following postcodes:

  • SO14, 15, 16, 17⁠, 20, 21, 22, 23, 51, 52, 53

We deliver for free to the following postcodes on the 3rd Saturday & Sunday of the month:

  • SO18, 19, 30, 31, 32, 50

  • PO1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15⁠

Please order before Monday midday for delivery the following Thursday, 3rd Saturday & Sunday of the month.

While we always bring a wide variety of our products to the markets, it's always best to order in advance to ensure you get what you want in case we run out on the day.
