Stay Loyal, Stay Local with Butler Country Estates
After its success at the Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market, Hampshire Fare will be once again taking up residence in a market chalet to provide small producers with an opportunity to showcase their wares to the public.
The Winchester Christmas Market is recognised as one of the best seasonal markets in Europe and runs from the 19th of November to the 22nd of December, featuring produce, goods, and crafts from local artisans and top quality exhibitors.
Styled on traditional German Christmas Markets the Winchester event is held annually and gifts and produce is sold by vendors from charming and authentic wooden chalets. The Hampshire Fare chalet will be manned by staff handing out local produce guides and advising shoppers on how to buy locally sourced food and other items.
Environmental concerns and an interest in sustainability has generated an increase in the number of shoppers that want to support their local economy while reducing damage to the planet. As such, it is expected that buying local will be more popular than ever over this Christmas season.
To round off this year’s popular Christmas event, Butler Country Estates will be taking over the Hampshire Fare Chalet on the final day of the market. As it attracts over 400,000 visitors each year we are thrilled to have the opportunity to share our own Hampshire trout, freshly sourced and prepared right here in Winchester.
Butler Country Estates is the invention of fly fisherman Richard Butler. Combining his love of fly fishing and fine foods, the angler turned culinary entrepreneur began his enterprise by providing his fresh-sourced homemade trout pate to friends at dinner functions.
The dish was so well-liked that he quickly started receiving requests and calls from people wanting to buy some for themselves. From there Butler Country Estates came to life and has been providing locally sourced trout in a variety of delectable flavours ever since.
In a blend of Edwardian traditions combined with modern culinary processes, Butler Country Estates has designed a creamy and chunky smoked trout pate that comes in 6 delightful flavours including a dairy-free option. Dill, chives, chilli, and classic varieties all make an indulgent and delicious treat.
Visitors to the Christmas Market will have the opportunity to learn more about Butler Country Estates and our smokery. Based close to some of the most nutrient-rich waterways in the world, our trout is prepared and sold as whole fish, fillets, and pate within 24 hours of being sourced.
Food lovers that delight in experiencing new flavours and aromas to stimulate their palette will love the delicate smoky textures that our freshly sourcedt trout provides. We have a dedicated base of loyal customers that love our smoked trout pate, and we serve many of the restaurants in the local area.
